The Tack Room

Old Coach House

The two cottages were originally the stable block to the main house (hence their names “The Tack Room” and “The Coach House”). The original structure must date from around 1734. It is Grade II listed, with original oak beams, and is built from the same local stone as the house. It lay in ruins for years, then in 1999/2000 it was converted into the cottages by a sympathetic renovation and extension project. They are in a courtyard setting separated from Bramwood Guest House by the gravelled car parking area and the shared garden. We have an enviable location within a couple of hundred yards of the centre of this little market town, with its shops, restaurants and pubs and adjacent to the A169 Pickering to Whitby road.

So, come and relax here for a week. Bramwood Cottages are the ideal base for touring in the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds and visiting the historic seaports such as Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay as well as the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. The ancient city of York is easily accessible by car or public transport (again loads of history and atmosphere with the added bonus of excellent shopping if you ever begin to tire of all the culture).

We serve an excellent full English breakfast in the Guest House, so come and enjoy one (by arrangement the night before). We provide all the towels and the bedlinen that you need. If you really need to bring your job with you, then you will appreciate the full wi-fi internet access to the cottages and the garden. We have secure cycle storage and John would love to chat to you about local cycle routes and walks.

The cottages are usually let on a Saturday to Saturday basis but please telephone or email us to enquire about out of season or late booking for short breaks.
